We’ve a brand new live music video project to showcase, this time around we have a live studio session with Bluemoose, one of Ireland’s leading party and cover bands. The session brought us back to the exciting Grouse Lodge Studios once again, which has always looked after us so well and given us some great footage down through the years.
Bluemoose are an exceptional cover act, with tons or raw talent and energy. This is the first video from the session, a cover of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’. I don’t mind saying I prefer Bluemoose’s version to the original, nor do I imagine I’ll be on my own with that, it’s a great version. We had fun lighting the studio and working out the blocking. We employed the Movi Freefly once again with the Panasonic GH4, which was as always a winning combination – as well as some Sonys for various locked off angles.
Kudos to Eoin Delaney from Directing Media for coming down with us to the shoot, he was as usual a huge help and a vital part of the crew.
We’ll have more coming from this session over the next few days and weeks as we shot five videos in total with the lads.

Last Sunday saw the release of the first episode of ‘Sláinte’, a three part web series pilot created by Dylan Townsend and David Laurence. Lucy Jones from Kerbute Productions was DOP on the shoot, and I was Assistant Director. It was a really fun, if intense shoot. The whole three episode project was shot over two nights in the venerable Gravedigger’s pub in Glasnevin.
‘Sláinte’ follows the struggles of a small Dublin community trying to keep its local pub alive in the face of invading hipsterism.
The cast was headed up by the lovely Jenny Dixon, of recent Fair City fame, and David Laurence himself playing the part of Barry, the mainstay and patriarch of Sláinte. Full cast and crew can be found on IMDB.
The next two episodes will be released consecutively over the next two Sundays.

Here is our latest video for Temple Bar Gallery + Studios (TBG+S). As part of their 30 Year Anniversary Celebrations, they were visited by the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.
After a guided tour of their current exhibition ‘False Memory Syndrome’, the President gave a rousing and insightful speech as is his nature. He challenged the concept of censorship and voiced his strong views of freedom of speech and expression. You can get the highlights in our video.

This year hosted the first ever ‘Groove’ Festival in Bray. In addition to the Main Stage, Whelan’s also had their own stage which featured a cracking lineup!
We were asked along to capture the magic and shoot a promo video for future, eh, promotion.
It was nothing short of awesome. We’re already looking forward to next year’s gig, with a lineup like that it’d be hard to pass it up!
